The current Orono Community Centre and Arena was officially opened on Saturday April 14 1979. It is home to the Orono Amateur Athletic Association, Orono Figure Skating Club and the Orono Fair/Agricultural Society among other community uses. It is actively used year round and is a popular spot for hockey, figure skating, ball hockey, lacrosse and the Orono Fair.
It houses a single ice pad, snack bar, a meeting room and a community room with kitchen on the second floor suitable for wedding receptions.
This facility is an important part of Orono’s hub which draws local people and also folks from around the province for many events.
